Is Rousey Set to Return?

Dr. Edwin Perez is an anesthesiologist in Clifton, New Jersey. During his free time, he enjoys reading and working out. Moreover, Dr. Edwin Perez is a fan of Ronda Rousey, a mixed martial artist.

In a recent interview with Robin Roberts, Ronda Rousey, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, indicated that she may be ready for a return to the octagon. When Roberts asked her what she wanted to accomplish that she had not managed to achieve yet, Rousey said that she wanted to win her belt back. She said that a conversation with her mother had motivated her to work towards reclaiming the bantamweight title.

Rousey lost the bantamweight title to Holly Holm in November 2015 and has been out of action since. In her absence, the belt has changed hands twice. Amanda Nunes is the current champion. During this period, Rousey has been busy outside the octagon, working on various movie projects.

In another interview, UFC President, Dana White, said that if Rousey came back, she would have the opportunity to fight for the bantamweight title. However, Rousey has not officially confirmed a 2016 return.

What is Same-Day Surgery?

Dr. Edwin Perez works as an anesthesiologist with Garden State Pain in Clifton, New Jersey. In this role, Dr. Edwin Perez primarily works with patients who will not need to undergo lengthy hospital stays after their operations, or those who are in for same-day surgeries.

Same-day surgeries, also referred to as outpatient surgeries, currently make up more than half of elective surgeries in the United States, and this trend is expected to continue over the next decade. The growth of this field of medicine comes from a combination of improved techniques, better instruments, and better team approaches which involve both a surgeon and an anesthesiologist. Most who undergo same-day surgeries are otherwise healthy people, and these surgeries tend to be minor or intermediate in nature.

Same-day surgeries have several logistical benefits. Often, they can be performed in a surgeon's office rather than requiring an operating room. This, coupled with the short or nonexistent hospital stay following the surgery, significantly reduces health care costs.
